Cape woman wins $4 million on scratch-off

BRAINTREE, Mass. — A Cape Cod woman is the first in the state to win $4 million in Massachusetts State Lottery's new scratch-off ticket.

Laura Mendosa, of West Yarmouth, bought the $4,000,000 Bonus Cash ticket at a New Bedford convenience store.

She chose the cash option and received a one-time payment of $2.6 million, less tax withholdings. The store will also receive a $40,000 bonus for selling the ticket.

Mendosa said she plans on using some of the money to travel.

Four additional $4 million prizes and 15 $1 million prizes remian in the $10 instant game.
