HYANNIS (FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston.com) A Cape Cod man was arrested on Friday after police accused him of trafficking cocaine.
Police arrested 29-year-old Rafael Perez after a two-month undercover investigation into the alleged distribution of cocaine in Hyannis. Investigators received a search warrant for a room at a Hyannis Motel, as well as a car owned by Perez, as a result drug purchases made during the undercover investigation.
Members of the Barnstable Police Narcotics Unit executed the search warrant on Friday afternoon. Police claim they seized 70 grams of cocaine, a digital scale, packaging material, and nearly $2,500 in cash from the car and motel room. They also reportedly seized $7,200 in cash from the 29-year-old's West Main Street apartment.
Perez is charged with trafficking cocaine. He is scheduled for arraignment on Monday in Barnstable District Court.
Another man was also arrested while police were executing the search warrant. Christopher Scott, 36, of Centerville, was arrested for conspiracy to violate the controlled substance act. Police claim Scott was attempting to buy $200 worth of cocaine from Perez. They say Scott had two outstanding arrest warrants on motor vehicle violations.
Scott is also scheduled for arraignment on Monday.
