CANTON, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) – Canton could soon become the first town in the country to ban the sale of electronic cigarettes.
According to The Patriot Ledger, the Canton Board of Health will consider banning the devices during a town hall meeting to be held Monday night.
E-cigarettes are inhalers that serve as a substitute for tobacco smoking, but still deliver nicotine.
The board says they feel it's a way for children and teenagers to get around the laws surrounding the purchases of cigarettes.
Canton's board will also consider raising the minimum age for purchasing tobacco to 21 at Monday's meeting.
