Calif. man arrested for receiving 30 pounds of pot

WINTHROP, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) – A California man was arrested for receiving a delivery of approximately 30 pounds of marijuana at 45 Cross Street in Winthrop.

John Serna, 30, of Santa Ana, reportedly traveled from California to pick up a shipment of marijuana and deliver it; however, police reportedly seized the narcotics from a 2008 Toyota Pruis that Serna was operating. This is Serna's first arrest in Massachusetts.

The marijuana that was being delivered was supposed to be used for medical purposes only, but was diverted and shipped to Winthrop for illicit sales.

David Zullo, who recently purchased the home where the delivery took place, was summonsed for possession with intent to distribute.

Police said Zullo has prior arrests for similar activites.
