QUINCY, Mass. (AP) - An aide to former Massachusetts Treasurer Tim Cahill will pay $10,000 to settle two obstruction of justice charges related to a corruption investigation of Cahill.
The Patriot Ledger of Quincy reports the agreement between Alfred Grazioso of Quincy and the state was announced Monday in Suffolk Superior Court. Grazioso will serve at least 18 months' probation. The charges will be dismissed after two years.
Grazioso was accused of intimidating and trying to coach two state Lottery employees before they were interviewed in the investigation by the state attorney general's office.
Cahill has agreed to pay a $100,000 ethics fine to settle allegations he schemed to use $1.5 million of state lottery money for an ad campaign to boost his unsuccessful 2010 gubernatorial campaign. A jury was unable to reach a verdict on criminal charges in December.
