(MyFoxBoston.com) – Despite several Boston stores pulling the Rolling Stone issue featuring Boston Marathon bombing suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev from their shelves, sales soared.
The cover doubled the magazine's monthly sales. According to a new report, sales of the August issue jumped 102 percent above average sales from last year. Thirteen thousand copies sold in just 10 days.
Boston Mayor Tom Menino called the cover a total disgrace. But in a statement, the editor-in-chief said the publication fell within Rolling Stone's long standing commitment to serious and thoughtful journalism.
