Intel to close Hudson plant, approx. 700 jobs affected

HUDSON, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) – Computer chip maker Intel says it is closing its Hudson, Mass. plant.

A spokesperson for Intel said the Hudson plant manufactures chips that are being phased out by the company. Anne Hurd told FOX 25 that the plant is the last in the world to make Intel's 200MM chip.

Hurd said about 700 jobs will be affected and the company is providing redeployment packages to workers. She said the plant will be at full capacity and manufacturing until the end of the year.

The plant has been in operation since 1998.
