BBB warns of ticket, hotel scams during World Series

BOSTON (MyFoxBoston.com) -- The Better Business Bureau is warning consumers about potential scams associated with the World Series.

Officials advise fans to use caution when making ticket purchases. They say fans should know the name, address and phone number of the business selling them tickets. They also say to get details, such as price, location of seats and cancellation policies, before making a purchase.

Anyone buying tickets online is advised to ask for a photo of them and verify them using the venue's seating chart.

The BBB also says consumers looking to book a hotel room should check the hotel's website or a well-known travel site to be sure the hotel is legitimate. Consumers should call hotels to confirm online deals for hotel rooms if they have any doubts.

Consumers are also advised to use a credit card or PayPal for online purchases as the charges are more secure and easy to dispute.
