BU officials offer $10k reward in serial robberies

BOSTON (FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston.com) Boston University Police are offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of one or several suspects in a recent series of robberies.

Investigators say the fourth armed robbery occurred on Tuesday night at 808 Commonwealth Avenue. A female student was robbed by two men. One of the men was reportedly armed.

All four victims have described the suspects as young black men between the ages of 16 and 20. The suspects have all worn hooded sweatshirts during the robberies. In all four robberies, one of the suspects flashed a handgun at the victim.

Investigators believe that at least two of the robberies featured the same three suspects.

The first robbery occurred on Sept. 23 just before 3 a.m. on Hamilton Road in Brookline. In this case, two black males robbed two BU students of wallets and a cell phone. One of the males is described as being approximately 16 years old, standing about 5'4" to 5'5" tall, wearing a light-colored zip up sweatshirt. The second suspect is described as being about 5'8" to 5'9" tall, possibly in his early 20s, wearing a vertical striped blue and white polo shirt.

A second robbery occurred at Egmont Street and St. Paul Street at about 5 p.m. on Sept 25. In this robbery, three black males between the ages of 16 and 20 robbed three BU students of a cell phone, lap top, and wallet. The first suspect is described as a lighter skinned male, 5'11" tall with short black hair, wearing a red sweatshirt and silver and black earrings. A second suspect, who reportedly showed a handgun, is described as a darker skinned male, approximately 5'10" tall with short black hair, wearing a dark sweatshirt and carrying a backpack. The third suspect in this robbery is described as being 5'10" tall with short black hair, wearing a darker colored sweatshirt.

A BU graduate was robbed on Thatcher Street at about 5 p.m. on Oct. 5. In this case, one suspect reportedly had braces on their teeth. This suspect was wearing a red sweatshirt and appeared to be wearing new Air Jordans. He was also carrying a backpack. A second suspect was wearing a grey sweatshirt with two numbers on it; one of them appeared to be number six. This suspect was also carrying a purple backpack.
