Brussels Airport blasts: What we know now

Two explosions were heard at the Brussels Airport early Tuesday, the BBC reports.

The airport was being evacuated, according to Sky News. Photos posted to social media showed smoke billowing from the terminal.

6:47 a.m. ET March 22: At a press conference, Belgian Prime Minister Charles Michel says, "What we feared has happened: We were hit by blind attacks."

6 a.m. ET March 22: In a statement labeled "aanslagen," which is Dutch for "terror attacks," the prosecutor's office warned Brussels residents to stay inside. It was the first official suggestion that the explosions may be terror attacks, according to the AP.
