Brookline police seek 'person of interest' in possible sexual assault

BROOKLINE, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) -- Police are searching for a person of interest in a potential sexual assault that reportedly took place Saturday.

Brookline police officers responded to Washington Street at about 12:15 a.m. Saturday after people reported seeing a woman on the ground.

The 31-year-old woman was taken to Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, where they learned she was possibly the victim of a sexual assault. She told officers that she had been in a local business in the Washington Square area.

Police learned the victim was around 690 Washington Street with a man just before she was found. The man is described as white, approximately 30 years old, between 5-feet, 10-inches tall and 6-feet tall. He had light brown hair, a beard, and blue eyes, wearing a brown, down-style jacket.

The man described is considered a person of interest in the investigation.

Anyone who was in the Washington Square area between 11:30 p.m. and 12:10 a.m. and may have seen something is asked to call the Brookline Police Department at 617-730-2222.

Police officials announced that they will be assigning foot patrols to the area.
