Brockton police nab suspected serial bank robber

BROCKTON, Mass. — A suspected serial bank robber is off the streets after he was captured less than an hour after Brockton police identified him and posted his photo on social media.

Police said Ramon Torres Jr., 20, was in the process of holding up the same bank he allegedly robbed over the weekend.

He was cornered and arrested Wednesday night inside a parking garage near the city courthouse.

Police posted his photo around 4:30 p.m., and declared him a top suspect in two weekend robberies. Minutes later they said they received a call about an attempted robbery at the Citizens Banks inside Stop & Shop.

The same bank had been robbed Sunday.

Torres was arrested a short time later.

He’s expected to face a judge Thursday.
