• Brockton man wanted for assaulting 85-year-old woman, stealing car


    HINGHAM, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) – An arrest warrant has been issued for a Brockton man accused of assaulting an 85-year-old woman and stealing her car, police said.

    Police are asking for the public's help locating 20-year-old Jerry Anitus. The warrant for Anitus' arrest lists seven charges: carjacking, assault with a dangerous weapon, assault and battery on a person age 60 or older, assault and battery on a person age 60 or older, assault to commit a felony, using a motor vehicle without authority, and trespassing.

    According to police, Anitus grabbed the victim by the wrist and shoulders and threw her to the ground. The victim hit her wrist and head on the pavement.

    Anitus then allegedly backed the victim's car out of the parking space and drove in the victim's direction coming within inches of hitting her.

    The victim has since been released from Mass General Hospital. She suffered severe swelling and bruising on her body.

    Anitus is described as a black male, approximately 6'0" tall, and 190 pounds. He is considered armed and dangerous.

    Police in Weymouth have also obtained an arrest warrant for Anitus from the armed robbery that occurred minutes before the Hingham carjacking.

    Anyone with information regarding his whereabouts is asked to call 911.
