Brockton boy, trying to avoid bedtime, calls 911

BROCKTON, Mass. (AP) — A 10-year-old Brockton boy hid under his covers on Wednesday after calling 911 because he didn't want to go to bed.

Police say Dan Davis called 911 just after 8 p.m. There was no emergency.

Dan told his mother he was going to call 911 on her because he didn't want to go to sleep. When his mother said, "go ahead," Dan picked up the phone and dialed 911.

When an operator picked up, the 10-year-old hung up and hid under his covers. His mother was left to answer the phone when an operator called back. She explained why her son called and the operator sent an officer to the home to explain to Dan when it is appropriate to call 911.

No charges were issued.
