Broadcasting legend Chet Curtis dies after battle with cancer

BOSTON (MyFoxBoston.com) -- Television viewers in Massachusetts are mourning the loss of longtime news anchor Chet Curtis.

Curtis had been on the air in Boston since 1972. He was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in 2012.

The 74-year-old was from Quincy and had three children.

The wake for Curtis will be held at Waterman & Sons Funeral Home located at 580 Commercial St., Boston on Sunday, Jan. 26, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.

The funeral will be held at St. Cecilia Parish located at 18 Belvidere St., Boston on Monday, Jan. 27, at 11 a.m.  Father John Unni will perform the service.

The family requested that in lieu of flowers a donation be made to The Genesis Foundation for Children. Donations can be sent to: The Genesis Foundation, 1347 Main St., Waltham, Mass. 02451. When making a donation, mention that it is in memory of Chet Curtis.
