BPD officers visit Sean Collier's grave after exhuming Albert DeSalvo in same cemetery

PEABODY, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) -- Boston police officers working to exhume the body of Albert DeSalvo in connection to the Boston Strangler case took the opportunity to visit the grave of slain MIT police officer Sean Collier.

After the officers exhumed DeSalvo's body at Puritan Memorial Park in Peabody, they sought out the grave site of Collier.

"We will never forget Sean and the sacrifice he made on behalf of the citizens of our fine city. God bless him," said Commissioner Davis, who was at the cemetery Friday.

Collier was killed while sitting inside his cruiser near MIT on the evening of April 18. Investigators say alleged Boston Marathon bombing mastermind Tamerlan Tsarnaev took credit for Collier's death after carjacking a Cambridge man.

Collier was buried at the Peabody cemetery on April 24 in a private ceremony.
