BPD: Man arrested after crashing stolen car

BOSTON — A man who tried to run from an accident was arrested for carjacking a woman after he crashed into another car Saturday, according to police.

Shortly before 1:00 a.m., Boston Police Officers were called to a wreck on Columbia Road. Two people in one of the cars approached the officers, while the driver of the other, 31-year-old Byren McGee, car tried to run away, according to police.

The officers say they chased McGee behind a nearby KFC and caught him as he scaled fence.

Police say they found an empty knife sheath in McGee’s waistband.

McGee is facing several charges, including leaving the scene of a crash and carjacking. Police say he also had an outstanding warrant in Dorchester.M
