BOURNE, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) -- Firefighters in Bourne finished their annual multi-day charity event Homeless for the Holidays Sunday afternoon at 3 p.m.
The event, which has firefighters camping out in the cold for 103 hours to raise money for various charities, as well as collect new, unwrapped toys for Toys for Tots, and non-perishable food for the Bourne Food Pantry.
Since the event began 12 years ago, organizers said, the firefighters have raised $128,000 in cash, more than 20,000 toys and 40,000 pounds of food.
The event, co-sponsored by Pixy 103, started Wednesday morning at 8 a.m. Held outside the Bay Motor Inn in Buzzards Bay, the local firefighters' band the Gimmicks performed on Friday night, and Santa came for a few meet and greets over the course of the event as well.
