BOSTON (AP) - Boston's historic Old South Meeting House is getting an exterior makeover.
Restoration work on the structure where the Boston Tea Party began will begin on Monday and be completed by the fall.
The $800,000 project will preserve and restore the historic landmark's windows, exterior woodwork and steeple, the oldest in Boston. The site will remain open to visitors during the restoration.
Built in 1729 as a Puritan meeting house, the Old South Meeting House was where colonists gathered to challenge British rule before the American Revolution.
It's now an independently-owned and operated nonprofit museum and National Historic Landmark and is an official site in Boston National Historical Park.
