Boston's homeless population treated to holiday meal at Pine Street Inn

BOSTON — Boston's homeless population had the opportunity to enjoy a warm, hot meal on Christmas Eve at the Pine Street Inn.

Dozens of volunteers spent their day preparing and serving a meal for those in need.

Cardinal Sean O'Malley also gave his time Sunday.

"For those of us who are believers, Christmas, of course, is Christ coming into our world," Cardinal O'Malley said. "And when he did that, he came as a homeless person. And there was no room at the inn. So we are very pleased that at Pine Street Inn there is room - but all of us need to help make more room."

Volunteers said their hope was to give people a sense of community, and some hope for the new

year.
The Pine St. Inn also said they have more events - including more hot meals - planned for Monday.
