Boston walkers hope to raise $3M to fight breast cancer

BOSTON (AP) - Thousands of breast cancer survivors, families and caregivers will be among 40,000 people expected in Boston for the American Cancer Society's annual Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk.

Participants in the country's largest and oldest one-day breast cancer walk hope to raise about $3 million and increase awareness about the disease.

The Boston event has raised about 52 million since its inception in 1993.

The Sunday morning walk starts at the Hatch Memorial Shell and moves along both sides of the Charles River before looping back to the Hatch shell.
