Boston traffic, parking restrictions as students move in

BOSTON (MyFoxBoston.com) – Thousands of college students are moving into their apartments this weekend in Boston and clogging the roadways.

To help with the transition and to minimize congestion, the Boston Transportation Department is working with Boston police and the Mayor Tom Menino's office to implement temporary traffic and parking restrictions.

Vehicles parked in areas where parking is temporarily banned are subject to being towed. Students can also apply for a street occupancy permit, which allows them to reserve parking on public streets.

New residents are encouraged to call the mayor's 24-hotline, 617-635-4500, with questions or to report any issues.
