Boston semi-professional team to change name

(MyFoxBoston.com) -- Boston's only semi-professional women's basketball team is changing its name after last week's tragedy at the Boston Marathon.

The Boston Bombers voluntarily decided to change its name. A team spokesperson spoke to the website Gawker about the decision saying, "We changed it due to the events Monday. Our fans [were] not happy with the name."

The former Bombers are a part of the Women's Blue Chip League.

According to Gawker, the team has already deactivated its Facebook and Twitter accounts and has abandoned their former website BostonBombersBasketball.com. The team is said to announce its new name later this week.
