Boston police search for gunman who shot 3 people, killing 1

BOSTON — One person was killed and two others were injured in a triple shooting Wednesday night in Roxbury, and now police are asking for help from the public as they continue to search for the gunman.

The incident was reported just before 8 p.m. near the Tobin Community Center in the area of Parker and Tremont streets in Roxbury as a basketball game was being played inside.

ORIGINAL STORY: 3 shot in Roxbury, 1 adult male dead

Boston police Commissioner William Evans said officers were already in the area responding to some sort of disturbance when shots were fired just blocks away.

Those officers ran to the scene and found the victims, in three different places on Tremont, Parker and Sewall streets.

The victim - a 20-year-old male from Boston - was found on Parker Street. He was taken to the hospital, where he later died.

The other two unidentified victims were also taken to a hospital with serious injuries but are expected to survive.

Evans said the department’s priority is getting the shooter or shooters off the street as fast as possible, and asked for the public’s help.

“As is the case with any death investigation, cooperation from anybody who may have been in the area at the time of the incident and may have seen something or knows something can make all the difference when it comes to solving these crimes,” Evans said. “My officers tell me there were a lot of witnesses in the area at the time of the shooting and we would certainly be grateful for any information they might possess and, hopefully, be willing to share.”

Police have also said early information from their investigation indicates the incident may have been gang related.

Officers search the area for hours Wednesday night but did not say if they located any weapons.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call police.
