Boston police make arrest in connection to dog fighting

BOSTON (MyFoxBoston.com) -- A man connected to a dog fighting investigation was arrested and arraigned in Boston on Tuesday.

Javier Ruperto, 35, was in Dorchester Municipal Court Tuesday stemming from a police investigation into illegal dog fighting at his home in Dorchester. On Monday night, police officers found 10 dogs in his basement, none of which were injured.

Police arrested Ruperto and charged him with assault and battery on a public employee, though he may face additional charges related to the dogs in his home.

Ruperto, who has a previous dog fighting record, was ordered to stay away from animals and forfeit his dogs.
