Boston police headed west for marathon tribute

BOSTON (AP) - Five members of the Boston Police Gaelic Column Pipes & Drums group will be in Seattle this week to perform during a tribute to Boston Marathon bombing victims at a Mariners game.

They'll also appear later in the week at a benefit for slain MIT police Officer Sean Collier, who was allegedly killed by the two marathon bombing suspects.

The Boston police contingent will perform with the Seattle Police Pipes & Drums during a memorial service before the Red Sox play the Mariners at Safeco Field on Tuesday.

On Thursday, they'll perform at a fundraiser hosted by the Seattle group in honor of Collier and Washington State Trooper Sean O'Connell.

O'Connell was killed May 31 when his motorcycle collided with a truck while he was directing detoured traffic.
