Boston Marathon winner Desisa returns for BAA 10K

BOSTON (AP) - Boston Marathon winner Lelisa Desisa, who crossed the finish line a couple of hours before two bombs exploded on Boylston Street, will return for the Boston Athletic Association 10K.

The B.A.A. said on Friday that Desisa will run in the second event of the three-race distance medley. It will be his first time in Boston since the April 15 marathon.

Defending distance medley champion Kim Smith of New Zealand leads the woman's field in the June 23 race through Boston's Back Bay.

Desisa, from Ethiopia, won the 117th edition of the Boston Marathon in 2 hours, 10 minutes, 22 seconds. About three hours later, two bombs exploded near the finish line, killing three spectators and injuring hundreds more.
