Boston man faces child porn, weapons charges

BOSTON (MyFoxBoston.com) -- A Jamaica Plain man was arraigned on child pornography and weapons charges Friday.

Martin Kollar, 57, is charged with possession of child pornography, distribution of child pornography, unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, unlawful possession of a large capacity feeding device, and improper storage of a large capacity firearm.

Investigators were made aware of Kollar after they learned of a peer-to-peer file-sharing program that was distributing pornographic videos and images of children.

While investigating, Mass. State Police obtained subscriber information linking the computer hosting the pornography to Kollar.

Mass. State Police executed a search warrant Thursday during which they seized three computers, iPods, iPhones, CDs, and several storage devices. They claim the CDs and an external hard drive contained child pornography.

Investigators also say Kollar, who does not have a license to carry, had an improperly stored Marlin Arms .22 caliber rifle with scope, an additional barrel, and three ammunition clips.

Kollar was held on $25,000 bail. If he posts bail, he must wear a GPS monitor, stay away from schools and parks, have no contact with children under age 16, and refrain from using computers or the Internet. His next court appearance is scheduled for Oct. 31.
