Boston Common Christmas tree arrives today

BOSTON — The smell of pine and evergreen will be in the air of Boston Tuesday morning when the city's Christmas tree arrives from Nova Scotia.

The 2017 tree is a 53-foot white spruce and comes from Bob and Marion Campbell's Cape Breton Island.

The tree left Nova Scotia on Nov. 17 and Boston Police will be escorting the tree into the city beginning around 10 a.m. from Billerica. The tree will try to Sullivan Square, over the Charlestown bridge and through downtown until it reaches the Boston Common.

Crews will work to get the tree set up and decorated for the tree lighting ceremony on Nov. 30 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
