Boston College students ID'd as victims of acid attack in France

MARSEILLE, France — Four Boston College students studying abroad were ambushed at a train station in France and attacked with acid.

Investigators said the attack was not linked to terrorism, and the suspect has been arrested.

The students, who have been identified as Courtney Siverling, Charlotte Kaufman, Michelle Krug and Kelsey Kosten, are juniors at Boston College and were in Marseille in southern France for the weekend when the attack occurred.

Officials there said the group was preparing to board a train when a 41-year-old woman sprayed them in the face with acid.

A university spokesperson said the acid burned two of the students and may have injured one of their eyes.

“Thank you so much to everyone who reached out to see if I’m ok and/or has been praying for us,” Siverling said in a Facebook post. “I did not receive any injuries from the attack in Marseille this morning and we are all safe. The French police and the U.S. Consulate have been wonderful and we are so thankful for that. I pray that the attacker would be healed from her mental illness in the name of Jesus and receive the forgiveness and salvation that can only come from him.”

The students strayed in Marseille for the night and were expected to head to Paris on Monday.
