All clear given after bomb squad response at Bunker Hill Community College

BOSTON — The Massachusetts State Police bomb squad has been cleared after responding to Bunker Hill Community College in Charlestown.

The response began around 5:30 p.m. and the all-clear was given by 6:45 p.m.

The bomb squad was called when 18-year-old Eldin Rivera found a note on his car that said "don't start your car if you want to live" after attending orientation at the college.

"It’s crazy," Rivera told Boston 25 News. "Apparently it’s someone trying to play a game, little kid games."

The car was parked in a campus lot right next to MBTA Orange Line tracks. Passengers on the train were forced to use shuttle buses around the area while investigators used a robot to inspect the vehicle and make sure there was no danger.

Rivera said his car wouldn't start after investigators were done at the scene, but it was taken as evidence anyway, along with the hand-written note.

“It’s stupid it’s a waste of time," Rivera, an Everett High School graduate, said of the ordeal.
