Body washes ashore on Salisbury beach

SALISBURY, Mass. — A beach full of people got an unpleasant surprise when a body washed ashore in Salisbury Monday morning, according to the local fire department.

Investigators were called out to the beach where witnesses say a decomposing body washed up onto the shoreline.

The Salisbury Fire Department confirmed to Boston 25 News a body was found on the beach, but were unable to tell us any more Monday morning.

A picture sent to Boston 25 News on Facebook showed people milling around on the beach, which did not appear to be closed.

Police and the Coast Guard were searching for a man in the area last week after a boat capsized nearby at the mouth of the Merrimack River. The boater was never found.
