Body found believed to be missing kayaker, US Coast Guard says

SAUGUS, Mass. — Authorities believe they have found the 72-year-old kayaker who went missing while fishing.

Craig Dustin of Saugus went fishing on his kayak late Tuesday morning and never returned.

The U.S. Coast Guard, Massachusetts State Police and local police began searching the Saugus River for Dustin.

Wednesday morning, the Winthrop Harbormaster found Dustin's kayak up against the seawall at 1045 Winthrop Parkway. All of Dustin's equipment was found in the kayak, except the life jacket.

Soon after, search crews found a body "consistent with the description of Dustin." The medical examiner will positively identify the body.

Dustin, who retired in January, was a longtime Everett coach, beloved by friends and family. He has been married for about 50 years.
