Black ice causes numerous car crashes in Yarmouth

YARMOUTH, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) -- Icy road conditions caused a number of accidents in Yarmouth on Routes 6 and 6A Tuesday morning, though none caused serious injuries.

The first accident happened at 7:45 a.m., the Yarmouth Fire Department responded to three-vehicle crash, with one car rolled over, and a cargo van on top of another car.

Before 10 a.m., more than 10 crashes were reported between Exit 7 and Exit 9 on Route 6, including another rollover and multiple cars spinning off the road into the woods.

On Route 6A, a driver lost control and crashed into boulders across from the Old Yarmouth Inn. Another crash occurred across from Oliver's Restaurant near Dennis.

A few people needed to be taken to Cape Cod Hospital as a result of the crashes, but all had minor injuries, according to Yarmouth fire officials.
