Biden to attend rally in Dartmouth for Markey

BOSTON (AP) - Vice President Joe Biden is the latest high-profile Democrat planning to visit Massachusetts to stump for Democratic U.S. Senate hopeful Edward Markey.

Biden is planning to attend a Markey rally Saturday at the University of Massachusetts in Dartmouth.

Tickets to the event are free and can be picked up ahead of time at locations in Taunton, New Bedford and Fall River. Doors open at 12:30 p.m.

Biden isn't the first national Democratic political figure to campaign for Markey, who is facing Republican candidate Gabriel Gomez in the state's June 25 special election.

President Barack Obama and former President Bill Clinton have already held rallies in Massachusetts on Markey's behalf. Markey turned Obama's appearance into a campaign ad.

Gomez says he's unfazed by the rallies and is relying on Massachusetts voters instead.
