Hands down one of the best weekends in New England! Boston saw highs in the 80s both days with comfortable humidity levels. High pressure over the area brought dry and mostly sunny skies to the area. This high will push eastward overnight Sunday. Unfortunately with an approaching cold front to our west and moisture to our south, humidity levels will be increasing once again and the threat of showers returns early this week.
Sunday night, a few clouds may hug the southern coast, but expect mostly clear skies further north. It will be great viewing conditions for the Perseid Meteor shower that will peak from midnight tonight to dawn Monday. If you look away from city light pollution you may be able to spot up to 70 meteors an hour. Temperatures will fall back to the 60s along the coast to 50s through the interior with light westerly winds.
On Monday a mix of sun and clouds is expected, more clouds the further south you go. In fact, enough moisture from a passing low pressure system along a frontal boundary off shore may bring a spot shower or two early in the morning and again mid-day. Best chances would be south of the Mass. Pike. Meanwhile, a cold front to the west will be approaching perhaps sparking a late day shower or storm. Highs will be in the low to mid 80s inland, mid to upper 70s at the coast. It will become more humid as the day goes on.
Clouds will continue to increase Monday night with scattered showers and storms breaking out and continuing on Tuesday as a cold front will push through the area. Highs will be near 80 with muggy conditions. Any developing storms may produce very heavy downpours and strong winds. Once this front clears the region late in the day, a cooler much drier air mass will move in. The mid to late week timeframe currently looks great, with dry and comfortable conditions and temps near or slightly below normal.
