Baseball first: USA beats Japan, reaches World Baseball Classic final

Team United States celebrate their 2-1 win over team Japan at the end of the ninth inning in Game 2 of the Championship Round of the 2017 World Baseball Classic at Dodger Stadium on March 21, 2017 in Los Angeles, California.

LOS ANGELES — The USA baseball team, made up of players from Major League Baseball, has done what no other USA baseball team participating in the World Baseball Classic has done: Beat Japan to make it to the championship game.

The team has one more hurdle to overcome, to win it all and take the title when it plays Puerto Rico Wednesday night in the final game, according to Bleacher Report.

Team USA won 2-1 thanks to RBIs from the Pittsburgh Pirates’ Andrew McCutchen and the Baltimore Orioles’ Adam Jones.

Japan was undefeated in the tournament until Tuesday night.

According to ESPN, Japan had scored 46 runs in six games before Tuesday's game.

Japan won the series in 2006 and 2009. The U.S. had never made it to the finals.

If you want to watch the game, it will be broadcast on MLB Network or on MLB.tv starting at 9 p.m. ET.
