Ayer police use Facebook to identify dog that fell off motorcycle

AYER, Mass. — After falling off a motorcycle, a dog is going to be returned to its owner thanks to a Facebook post by the Ayer Police Department.

Police were told a small dog had fallen off a motorcycle, which then kept going down the road. Officers showed up to find the dog and said the motorcycle never returned.

So they took the dog to Ayer Animal Medical Center.

Officers posted about the dog to Facebook and quickly received calls from people who could identify it.

The police department says it is going to return the dog to its owner, but they are also looking into the legality of transporting an animal on a motorcycle. There was no word on any citations at the time of this posting.

Police weren't able to give any details on the dog's condition.
