• Autopsy results released in doctor's murder

(FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston.com) — The autopsy results in the death of a doctor found murdered inside a New Hampshire hotel have been released.

Dr. Catherine Houghton, 70, of Novato, Calif., was found stabbed repeatedly inside the Hampton Inn in Littleton on Monday.

New Hampshire Attorney General Michael A. Delaney announced Friday that the cause of Houghton's death was a stab wound to the neck. The manner of her death was homicide.

Houghton was on the Board of Trustees at the White Mountain School in Bethlehem. School leaders say she was in town Sunday and Monday for board meetings and actually decided to stay an extra day to rehearse with the school's a cappella choir.
Police arrested 37-year-old Rodney Hill, of West Danville, Vt., for Houghton's murder. Investigators said the motive for the attack is unknown, and at this point, the victim and alleged killer just happened to be registered at the same hotel on Monday.
Neighbors said Hill was known for having a short fuse and would overreact quickly. He's currently being held without bail on second-degree murder charges and is due in Littleton District Court on Feb. 5 for a probable cause hearing.

The circumstances surrounding Houghton‘s death remain under investigation.
