Authorities investigate officer-involved fatal shooting in Ashland

ASHLAND, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) – Authorities are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred at 13 Metropolitan Ave. in Ashland Tuesday morning.

According to the Middlesex District Attorney's Office, at about 10:45 a.m., an Ashland officer saw 27-year-old Andrew Stigliano, a man he knew to have outstanding arrest warrants, and attempted to arrest him.

Instead of surrendering, Stigliano allegedly fled into the home at 13 Metropolitan Ave. and armed himself with a shotgun.

When officers tried to arrest him inside the home, Stigliano confronted officers with the shotgun and an officer discharged his weapon, authorities said.

Stigliano was pronounced dead at the scene.

Video from SkyFox showed a number of police cruisers near a home with a two car garage. A crime scene investigator was seen taking photos of a sedan in the home's driveway.

The circumstances surrounding the shooting remain under investigation.
