Attorney reportedly delivered love letters between Bulger, Greig

BOSTON (MyFoxBoston.com) -- A new report suggests convicted mob boss James "Whitey" Bulger had his moll on his mind while he was standing trial on a multi-count racketeering indictment.

Attorney J.W. Carney said he watched as Bulger and his longtime girlfriend, Catherine Greig, sobbed while reading each other's love others, reports the Boston Globe.

Carney even reportedly offered his legal pad to Bulger while he was awaiting trial so the mobster could write words of comfort to Greig.

Greig was arrested in Santa Monica, Cali. alongside Bulger after the pair spent 15 years on the run together.

Carney received approval to visit the former dental hygienist at a federal detention center in Rhode Island where she read Bulger's letter. She then put down her own letter on the pad, which Carney then brought to Bulger.

Bulger reportedly told his lawyer that one of his greatest regrets was never marrying Greig while they were hiding out in California.

The details of the exchange were revealed at a meeting of the Massachusetts Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers.

Greig is serving 8 years in prison for harboring a fugitive. Bulger is serving two life sentences, plus five years for crimes committed while ruling South Boston's underworld in the 70's and 80's.
