Attleboro teen held in alleged attack on 63-year-old neighbor

NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (AP) — A 15-year-old Attleboro boy accused of attacking his 63-year-old neighbor was held following a dangerousness hearing on Monday.

Brandon Bonin was indicted on charges including home invasion, kidnapping and attempted murder under the state's Youthful Offender law on Friday. The case will be heard in open juvenile court, but it is being handled as an adult case.

Bonin is accused of breaking into Paula McMurrough's house March 6. Police said he kicked and stabbed McMurrough, tied her up and drove to a pond where he pushed her in the water. Police said Bonin then pulled her out, and drove her to a new location where she got control of the car and went for help.

Prosecutors allege Bonin was angry over being accused of killing McMurrough's chicken a year go.
