Arrest warrant issued for suspect who drove at Hingham officer

HINGHAM, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) – Police in Hingham have identified a driver who reportedly drove at an officer on foot and escaped after crashing into another car in June.

Police have issued an arrest warrant for 30-year-old Bruno Brauer, formerly of Malden. The warrant lists 17 charges, including felony assault with a dangerous weapon.

An officer responded to a report of a truck driving with its lights off through the Best Chevrolet on Derby Street at about 10:38 p.m. on June 7.

Upon arrival, the officer found the truck in the lot, but Brauer reportedly saw the officer as well and drove his truck quickly past him. As the truck sped by the officer, he noticed the suspect was wearing a black ski mask, police said.

The suspect drove into a partially blocked alley, and the officer stepped out of his cruiser, drew his gun, and ordered the suspect to stop. The truck then allegedly pulled forward towards the officer at a high rate of speed.

Police said the suspect smashed through the lot's front gate and continued on Derby Street, turning around in Weymouth, and onto Route 3 at exit 14.

The officer pursued the suspect, but ended the chase for safety reasons.

The suspect ended up crashing into another car on Route 3 near the Weymouth/Braintree line and rolled over landing upright. The suspect then got out and ran into the woods.

The occupants of the other car involved in the crash were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Several tires were allegedly stolen from vehicles at the dealership and burglary tools were recovered at the scene. The truck had a stolen New Hampshire license plate taped over the actual Massachusetts plate.
