LAWRENCE (FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston.com) - A 27-year-old Lawrence man has been arraigned on a murder charge nearly one year after the shooting death of a Fairhaven man.
Josue Diaz was arraigned Monday in Lawrence District Court. He pleaded not guilty and was ordered held without bail.
Diaz was arrested over the weekend and charged with killing 29-year-old Johan Miranda in the early morning hours of Dec. 31, 2011.
In November, state police turned over the footage to FOX 25's Bob Ward, who in turn featured this case in an edition of his New England's Unsolved.
Authorities told FOX 25 that Miranda and his friends spent the evening at a nightclub in Lawrence and wrapped up their night at the food truck. There were about a dozen people in the area when an argument started and escalated.
The heated argument may have been over derogatory statements Diaz reportedly made about Miranda's Dominican heritage.
Police do not believe that Diaz and Miranda knew each other.
Diaz is due back in court next month.
