Army Ranger from Dudley dies during parachute training exercise


ATLANTA, GA ( -- A 21-year-old Army Ranger from Dudley, Mass. was killed during a parachute training exercise in Georgia Thursday.

The Huffington Post reports Pfc. Christopher P. Dona was found deceased Thursday with cords from a parachute and straps from a harness wrapped around his neck. The 21-year-old, who had recently returned from Afghanistan, was found dead after a routine training jump at Fort Stewart.

There is no word on the exact cause of Dona's death, however investigators say wind filled Dona's parachute while he was landing and he was dragged along the ground for about 350 feet. Army officials are continuing their investigation into his death.

According to the website, Dona was a graduate of Shepherd Hill Regional High School. He enlisted in the Army in 2012.
