Armed robbery suspect dies after crashing car during police chase

RANDOLPH, Mass. — A suspect in an armed robbery in Randolph has died after crashing his car during a police chase.

The suspect walked into a store on North Main Street at approximately 3 p.m. wielding a sawed-off shotgun and demanding the clerk hand over the money.

The 63-year-old store clerk said that the second he saw the sawed off shotgun, he didn't even think twice, he just handed over the money.

"Someone come in here and ask for money 'quick, quick, give me money, hurry up,'" said Patel.

During the robbery, the suspect fired the shotgun into the floor of the store, but thankfully no one was injured. The clerk was the only other person at the store at the time.

The suspect then took off in a car with some cash.

Shortly after, Randolph Police broadcasted a description of the suspect driving a blue 2009 Pontiac G6 sedan. Holbrook Police was then able to find a car matching that description being driven by a man who fit into the suspect's description.

The driver then led Holbrook Police on a 3-mile pursuit which eventually ended back in Randolph. The pursuit ended at around 4:30 p.m. when the suspect crashed head-on into another vehicle near Union Street.

The suspect sustained life-threatening injuries and was taken to an area hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased.

The male driver of the other vehicle was transported to an area hospital with injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening.

Anyone with information about this case is asked to call the Randolph Police Department at 781-963-1212.
