Armed robbery in Mattapan store latest in string of attacks

BOSTON — Police are investigating after a trio was caught on camera robbing a store - while holding the owner and his wife at gunpoint - in Mattapan. And they think these suspects may be connected with more than a dozen crimes from Boston to Lowell.

The store is located on Blue Hill Ave. Two men are seen on camera running in to the store - and one put a gun to store owner Eugene Emmanuel's chest.

As that happened, Eugene's wife Marie said a second man ran behind the counter and put a gun to her back.

The Emmanuels said it was one of the scariest moments of their lives.

This was one of several store armed robberies in the area since late October.

Police said 7 stores in Boston have been hit. And there have been three stores robbed in Lowell, as well.

Police have released photos of the suspects in one liquor store robbery in Lowell. But they told Boston 25 News they think the same 3 men are behind the rash of robberies.

The Emmanuels are having bulletproof glass installed in their store next week.

Anyone with information about any of the robberies should contact police.
