Armed robbers make off with $5K during Lynn robbery

LYNN, Mass. -- Police are searching for two people who robbed a Lynn convenience store at gunpoint and fired at least one shot at the clerk.

The robbery happened just after 10 p.m. Monday at the Shop Kwik on Lynnfield Street. According to police, the clerk chased the suspects away but in the process got shot at.

“Very nervous, first time in my store. I heard this happened in different stores, but not in here,” the store manager told Boston 25 News reporter Malini Basu.

Both suspects are believed to be men. They were wearing ski masks to cover their faces and at least one was carrying a gun.

“The skinny guy had the gun. The fluffy guy ran into the counter and they were threatening us with the gun,” the clerk said. "At first i thought it was a prank."

While the clerk was chasing them, that man slipped on some ice and that’s when he fired a shot at the clerk's chest.

The clerk then stopped chasing them and ran back inside to call police.

A source told Boston 25 News there may be several people involved in this robbery, possibly even a woman in her 60’s who may have been posing as a customer.

Police said the suspects made off with about $5,000.
