Armed robber reportedly hit several local businesses

MELROSE (FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston.com) –Several police departments are investigating a series of recent armed robberies that took place in Melrose, Winchester, Stoneham, and Woburn.

According to the Melrose Police Department, the most recent armed robbery occurred at the Richdale Convenience Store located at 54 West Wyoming Avenue around 9:08 p.m. on Wednesday.

The suspect reportedly entered the store, brandished what was described as a dark-colored handgun, and demanded money from the cash drawer. He fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of cash.

The Richdale Convenience Store has reportedly been robbed five times since 2007, including three unsolved cases in November 2007, one solved case in May 2010, and the most recent heist.

Police suspect the same suspect is responsible for armed robberies that occurred in Stoneham, as well as Winchester and Woburn.

In Stoneham, the suspect reportedly robbed a DB Mart convenience store and a Sunset Tanning salon. The suspect reportedly hit another DB Mart in Woburn and Dairy Barn Monday night in Winchester. Police believe the same suspect is involved in all the robberies.

In several of the robberies, the suspect fled with an undisclosed amount of cash from the register.

The suspect is described as a white male approximately 5'8".

During several of the robberies, the suspect reportedly wore similar attire: a dark leather jacket, black hooded sweatshirt, dark athletic style pants with two white stripes down the leg, black hat and mask, and black sneakers with white soles.
