Anti-Semitic messages spray painted on Sharon church

SHARON, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) – Police in Sharon are asking for the public's help finding whoever is responsible for vandalizing a church in the town.

A police officer discovered the broken windows and anti-Semitic messages at Victory Assembly of God on Friday night.

Rev. Joe Green from Victory Assembly of God told FOX 25's Nicole Jacobs the messages were not what he had hoped to see. He says whoever is responsible spray painted swastikas on several of the doors and threw a rock through one of the church's windows.

Police believe the vandalism occurred between 9 p.m. and 10 p.m.

Rev. Green believes the act is the result of an upcoming Jerusalem Day celebration. He says promotion billboards for the celebration were also destroyed.

"There is an evil in the world we all know that and there's not a whole lot we can do about that. We just pick up the pieces and move forward," Rev. Green said.

Rev. Green still offers an open heart to the suspect who made every attempt to dampen their spirits.

"I'd probably invite him to church service the next six months," he said.

Anyone who may have seen a vehicle or anything suspicious on High Plain Street in Sharon between 9 p.m. and 10 p.m. Friday is asked to contact police.
